AS WELL AS A
COMMUNITY FACILITY
PARTNERS
Selsey Town
Council set down the project mission statement through the work
of its Clerk, Gill Jennings
David Lee Chairman of the football club said: This
exciting project will only need 1800 people to raise £1000 each!
Andy
Horner Chairman of the cricket club said: For the clubs to be
working together in this way is a miracle
-------------------------------------------------
Selsey Football and Cricket Clubs have
provided sporting opportunities in the town for 200 years between
them.
Sir Patrick Moore is probably the
most famous cricketer whilst Hubert Doggart went on to play for
England.
Danny Hinshelwood played for
Brighton and Hove Albion and then managed Selsey Football Club for
most of the noughties.
Three senior cricket sides
and the same number of football teams turn out each weekend in the
appropriate seasons.
The clubs also support 10 junior
teams.
Ambitious for the best the
clubs need new clubhouse facilities to upgrade the existing wooden
structures.
Along with Selsey Town Council the
clubs put in for planning permission for a new joint building and
got it. It is their desire to develop new teams, new sports and new
community facilities along with a new building.
So the Sports Dream is born

20/20 Cricket Match
Sunday 11th July
The 2 0/20
cricket match on behalf of SSD – Selsey Sports Dream
– held on the Selsey Cricket Field (behind Budgens) on Sunday
afternoon, July 11, went very well. Nearly 200 people enjoyed
cricket, football, hockey, running golf bowls and judo.
New members were signed up and much new interest
aroused.
The cricket club emerged narrowly victorious in the
challenge match with the football club.
Lots of drinks were consumed and a barbecue was
enjoyed.
But it wasn’t all just fun. A new girls football
team has been formed
… a new walking/running group … and a netball group.
